IPL 2025, CSK vs RCB: Kohli Expresses His Joy as RCB Ends 17-Year Wait for Victory in Chennai

Virat Kohli was in high spirits inside the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) dressing room after their emphatic 50-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2025 clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 28.

This win was particularly significant as RCB broke a 17-year streak of losses in Chennai, securing their first victory at the venue since 2008. Having suffered eight consecutive defeats at Chepauk, this long-awaited triumph brought immense joy to the team.

Kohli’s Celebration After the Win

Known for his energy both on and off the field, Kohli was seen dancing with his teammates in the dressing room, celebrating not only the win but also breaking the losing streak at CSK’s home ground.

Kohli contributed 31 runs off 30 balls in the match, hitting two fours and a six before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad in the 13th over. RCB set a strong target of 196 for seven, later restricting CSK to 146 for eight, securing a well-deserved win.

RCB Captain Rajat Patidar’s Reaction

After the match, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar expressed his delight at winning in front of the passionate crowd at Chepauk.

“If I talk about this match, it was a good total on this surface because the ball was stopping a bit, and it wasn’t easy for batters to hit fours and sixes. It’s always special playing in Chepauk because of the fans, the way they support their teams,” said Patidar, who played a crucial innings of 51 runs off 32 balls.

RCB’s Next Challenge

With victories over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and CSK, RCB currently sits at the top of the points table with four points and a net run rate of +2.266. Their next match is against Gujarat Titans on April 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
