Former India Player Recommends Mumbai Indians to Include THIS England Batter in Their Playing XI Against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has suggested that Mumbai Indians (MI) should include England’s Will Jacks in their playing XI for their upcoming clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Jacks, who made his IPL debut last season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, had an impressive run, scoring 230 runs at a strike rate of 175.57, including a match-winning century against the Titans—his current opposition.
“I think Mumbai Indians should play Will Jacks because he scored a century the last time he played here. He smashed sixes off Rashid Khan while playing for Bengaluru,” Chopra remarked.
Last season, Jacks delivered a sensational performance against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, smashing a century in just 41 balls at a blazing strike rate of 243.90. His innings included 10 sixes and 5 fours, with four of those sixes coming against Rashid Khan.
Aakash Chopra Advises Mumbai Indians to Retain Will Jacks
Will Jacks was part of Mumbai Indians’ opening match against Chennai Super Kings, where he scored 11 runs and also contributed with the ball by dismissing his England teammate Sam Curran. However, with MI captain Hardik Pandya returning after serving a one-match ban, the team faces a selection dilemma between Jacks and Ryan Rickelton.
Chopra believes Mumbai should stick with Jacks due to his past success against GT and drop Rickelton instead.
“If Hardik is back, they will have to drop either Ryan Rickelton or Will Jacks. I’d suggest playing Jacks and replacing Rickelton with Robin Minz as the wicketkeeper,” Chopra stated on his YouTube channel.
Additionally, he speculated that Reece Topley might also find a place in the XI, as Mumbai look to adjust their lineup for the crucial encounter.
“With Hardik back, Mumbai can play Reece Topley alongside Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner. This reshuffling will be MI’s biggest challenge tonight,” he added.
Both Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans are still searching for their first win of the season, making this clash at Narendra Modi Stadium a must-win encounter for both franchises.
